Day 1: Arrival in Paro – A Warm Welcome

Day 2:  Paro – Chele La Pass – Thimphu

  • Early morning drive to Chele La Pass (3,988m) for Himalayan Monal, Blood Pheasant, Kalij Pheasant, and Satyr Tragopan.
  • Continue to Thimphu, birding en route for Yellow-billed Blue Magpie and Rufous Sibia.

Day 3:  Thimphu – Punakha

  • Morning birding around Thimphu, focusing on Red-billed Chough and Hodgson’s Redstart.
  • Drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass (3,100m), birding for Fire-tailed Myzornis and Rufous-breasted Accentor.

Day 4: Punakha Valley Exploration

  • Full-day birding in the Punakha Valley, focusing on White-bellied Heron, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, and Black-tailed Crake.

Day 5: Punakha – Phobjikha Valley

  • Drive to Phobjikha Valley, a wintering site for Black-necked Crane (November-March).
  • Explore the valley for Spotted Laughingthrush and Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush.

Day 6: Phobjikha – Trongsa

  • Early morning birding in Phobjikha for Grey-backed Shrike and Yellow-browed Tit.
  • Drive to Trongsa, birding along the way for Golden Bush Robin and Brown Parrotbill.

Day 7: Trongsa – Bumthang

  • Morning birding near Trongsa for Red Crossbill and Fire-tailed Sunbird.

Day 9: Bumthang – Ura Valley

Day 10: Bumthang – Mongar

  • Drive to Mongar, passing through diverse habitats, birding en route for Yellow-billed Blue Magpie, Rusty-flanked Treecreeper, and Rufous-throated Wren-babbler.

Day 11: Mongar – Lhuntse – Trashigang

  • Explore Mongar and Lhuntse for Rufous-necked Hornbill and Blue-fronted Robin.
  • Continue to Trashigang for birding around the river valleys.

Day 12: Trashigang – Samdrup Jongkhar

  • Long drive to Samdrup Jongkhar, with birding stops along the way for Beautiful Nuthatch, Great Hornbill, and Rufous-backed Sibia.

Day 13: Departure from Samdrup Jongkhar

  • Final birding around Samdrup Jongkhar before departure to India.
